In 1905, the Cullinan Diamond was discovered there, weighing 3,106 carats in its uncut form. It remains one of the most extraordinary gem-quality diamonds ever found, celebrated not only for its size, but for its remarkable clarity and blue-white brilliance.

The diamond was named after Sir Thomas Cullinan and would later be cut into several important stones, the largest of which became known as the Great Star of Africa. Its story has travelled far beyond South Africa, becoming a symbol of rarity, precision, and permanence.
