Situated high up on the steep shale slopes of Remhoogte, our merlot vineyard is positioned on a cool southerly facing slope, the ideal Aspect for merlot in Stellenbosch. Classic in style, showing juicy berried fruit on entry, with chocolate tannins, and a fresh acidity bringing balance and length.
Tasting Notes & Previous Vintages:
A generous yet refined Merlot showing aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cedar, and subtle herbaceous characters, layered with notes of dark chocolate and spice. The palate is rich and textured, with concentrated dark fruit balanced by fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins. Fermentation in large-format oak fermenters and 24 months of maturation in French oak contribute depth, complexity, and seamless integration. Bold in character yet elegant in expression, the wine finishes long and polished, revealing a Merlot of structure, balance, and remarkable poise.
